    • Hello, Did you find out any information about your father? I am looking for information about Charles Parish Jr.. Do you think there is a relation? Charles died 15 Feb 45 in France and is buried at the Saint James Cemetery in Brittany.

  3. My father is 2nd from the left, top row…92 yrs old… Retired to Memphis TENNESSEE from FLINT Michigan….he and I are writing a book about this unit and their encounters of war and racism…call me at 810-962-7755

    • I just found this site, if you’d like, my father, Ivan James Houston who’s also 92 years old wrote a book called “Black Warriors: The Buffalo Soldiers of WWII” you can get it on Amazon. It also talks about the war and racism. For the last 5 years, he’s visited the Tuscany area where the Buffalo Soldiers are still revered.

      • I am working on a project and have been unsuccessful in searching the internet for WWII movements of US troop camps in the Tuscany, Italy area in 1944/1945. Could you advise me on where I might find information including aerial photos of US camps? Areas in Italy could include Carrara, Pisa, and Livorno. Would your father’s book contain this information? You may receive this message twice as I am having difficulty with this site.

        Thank you,

        Mary Liprie Rahaim

Sorry to have taken so long to reply – I’ve been away from the page for quite some time. Have you tried contacting the Army War College? They might have some of those materials, or they might be able to direct you to where you could find them.

  7. I am the current National Historian for the 555th Parachute Infantry Assn. I am attempting to make a display on the origins of the 555th Parachute Infantry Test Platoon. Since 17 of the original 20 enlist Soldiers were from the 92nd Infantry Division, I felt it was fitting to get unit crest from each of the Infantry Regiments, my project only lacks the distinctive unit crest for the 92nd Infantry Division. I am at a loss because I can not locate the crest, can anyone point me in the right direction.

  8. My brother was in the 371st Inf., Co F. I am seeking info re battle activities (2/2/45-2/14/45). I understand that this was one of the horrific battles fought in Italy. In Hondon Hargrove’s book p. 96, it mentions that Co F. with great determination captured 25 Germans plus arms and other equipment. Did Co. F. receive any kind of commendation for this? Where can I find this info? Also, where can I find copies of duty reports? My brother was wounded in battle and died 2/15/45.

    • If you have a Social Security Number, date of birth, or members Service number, you can request through the Army Military Records. I believe the address can be found on the internet.

      Mike Moore

      • DEAR MS STEWART, I WOULD LOVE THIS INFO ALSO BECAUSE MY DAD FOUGHT IN THE SAME BATTLE.
HE WILL BE TURNING 105 IN A FEW WEEKS!

  10. My father was in the 92nd Infantry in WWII, 1941-1945, His 105th birthday is on November 29th, 2017, but we will be celebrating it on Dec 2nd, 2017, in Los Angeles, Ca. What a blessing it is to still have him around.

  11. I have left you above at this site a message and here is some more about my dad the late Sgt. Abner Randolph Steele. I am as I stated Lillian Jane Steele and am the daughter of the late Sgt. Abner R. Steele who did indeed fight in the Sicily Campaign. He was in charge of an ammo dump in Sicily and served under the command of Courtney Hodges who was very hard to work with since he was a white southern general attached to General George Patton. Yes Daddy was a part of Patton’s army and when I tell people this they are shocked. Our family doctor the late William Long also served in the medical corps and did actually get to meet General George
Patton. Dr. Long was a European American physician from Statesville,NC. He respected our family and also respected my mom’s mom who was from Georgia. In fact all of my mom’s family was from Georgia and they were a part of the Tabor and Little families who lived in Athens,Ila and Commerce,Georgia. Mom was a teacher who was educated at Livingstone College in Salisbury,NC and dad graduated from JC Price HS in Salisbury. The information on him is above. I do have his discharge papers, his high school diploma and my mom’s college degree. They are my role models. Could you assist me in locating some information on ammo dumps in Sicily that were posts for the 92nd and the Red Ball Express to receive their ammo from? Dad also participated in the Battle of the Buldge,St. Vith and the drive to Germany. He was discharged here in NC in 1946.

  12. Hi, I am looking for info on my grandfather, Douglas Robinson. He was from Virginia and was in the 370th infantry. Any info would be very much appreciated.

  13. Hello,
I see that the last posts for this page was some time ago. Is anyone monitoring it? My Father was 1-SGT Thomas Lewis of Detroit. He passed away in 1991 and I have tried to get his records but was notified the records were destroyed in a fire. I was only able to get a copy of his final payment worksheet. I would like to know where he was in Italy. I have only a photo of him in his unit near the Catacombs. If anyone can help me it would be appreciated.
